Duties and Responsibilities: Orthodontics
jobs involve straightening teeth and correcting bites. They are responsible for
finding problems with the position of the patient’s teeth. They may use x-rays
or plaster molds of the patient’s teeth to find the problem. They may give the
patient braces, retainers, and space maintainers to correct problems. They are
also responsible for planning custom treatment plans for each patient according
to their needs.
Salary: $196,270
Education: Need to graduate from dental school
with a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine. In most cases you
may need to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics and organic
chemistry. 2-3 years of orthodontics training
Reflection: I would not want to be orthodontics
because it seems like it is a lot of responsibility and also because I don’t think
I would be able to work with people and their mouths.
